I have bought their frozen pizzas. They are the best ever and you don’t have to add a thing to them. Sometimes I put some chicken just for added flavor. Their fresh bread is always one of my favorites. Nothing like their bread in this neighborhood. Also, their homemade raviolis are just great. Flavor is great, size is good, just right for a quick meal and homemade!

I drove from Fishtown to buy meatballs from them today. My dad happened upon Roma’s and gave me some of these perfect little meatballs one day. They are heavenly. absolutely worth the drive. My husband who rarely eats red sauce or meatballs has been waiting and asking for me to get more from dad.

Today I drove up for meatballs as well as some other things for a party. I spent 140 and got the following:
2 large containers of strawberries,
one bag of seedless grapes,
11 hoagie rolls (just dropped off from his brooklyn supplies)
2 italian loafs (same bakery in brooklyn)
2 bags of cannoli filling
mini canolli shells (a few dozen)
2 frozen pizzas which the owner swore would be the best I ever had
two bags of meatballs (about 10 pounds)
a pound of freshly grated locatelli.
something else I am forgetting…….

some things I asked prices for, some I did not. The meatballs were on sale for 4 dollars and change a pound (I’d pay double they’re so good)
the rolls were over a dollar each – also TOTALLY worth it.
the cheese was about 10 bucks for the pound.- they grate their cheeses fresh there and add no filler or cheap cheeses.
the strawberries were on sale for 2 a container.
the cannoli filling? no idea, but desert isn’t something that can be priced.
the pizzas were five each.

the owner took me by the hand and shopped with me, he showed me the cheese wheels that had just been delivered and gave me the background on most of what I purchased. (he also walked my bags to my car so nothing got crushed)

The prices may seem high, but for the quality they are very reasonable. I think I would’ve spent more at reading terminal and not have had the lovely experience. If I had told him my budget from the beginning he would have limited what he showed me I am sure but I told him where I lived and he wanted to make sure I saw everything.
I will absolutely go back. especially for the sales – he was having a sale on olive oil, balsamic vinegar and some spaghetti sauce.

Oh My Gosh. I really hope this place makes it. A real Italian market with fresh pasta, bread delivered fresh from Brooklyn daily, and great desserts. (The personal size tirimasu and other desserts come in a REAL glass dish that you keep. I know its not a big deal, but in this day and age something of quality IN something of quality is a rarity!) The shopping center is small and kind of hard to get into, but if you park on the little side street next to it you should be good. Warning – the owner may try to feed you samples when you are in there! 🙂

The crab-stuffed ravioli here is very good with a generous amount of filling! The pasta itself is tender and they don’t skimp on the crabmeat. Try it with a rosa-cream sauce. They have a lot of varieties, including cheese, meat, mushroom, and spinach but the crab is my favorite. The stuffed shells here are also better than anything that you would get from a neighborhood pizza parlor, too. The stock of Italian grocery items here is almost as amazing as Claudio’s. They have everything from prosciutto to smoked cheeses to peppers to olive oils. Plus, they also have assemble-your-own cannoli components, anise pizelles, and tiramisu (almost as good as Roma Bakery’s in Blue Bell). While it’s not as jaw-droppingly amazing as DiBruno’s or Claudio’s, this is as good as it gets in NE Phila.

i love this place. we were stationed in italy for three years and when we moved back i sought an italian deli where my kids could practice their italian and i could get back to my expatriate life. i found it. ulysses is the owner and he gives me a giant hug whenever i go in there now. the tiramisu is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. i have actually placed a bread order in the morning and drove back to get it because the guy who trucks it in from brooklyn hadn’t arrived yet. i have found all the specialty italian staples that i once cooked with back in sicily, and it is just a very authentic and friendly place. the only criticism i have is that is slightly pricey. the items are all authentic so if you are willing to pay a premium for them this is your place.

I’m originally a Brooklyn girl then transplanted to north jersey and Italian delis are on every street corner.. Once I moved to Pa, I knew it will be something I will miss.. But last year, before thanksgiving, I was looking to put together an antipasta platter.. Enter this little gem! I was in my heaven.. It reminded me as a child going to 86th street with my parents in Brooklyn.. Definitely brought back some happy memories! This is my one stop shop for some real Italian food!
